The Triplett Consulting Team

Triplett Consulting LLC is a Minnesota-based enterprise that helps nonprofits throughout the nation.

Tom Triplett is Principal of Triplett Consulting LLC. He is also a Minnesota-licensed attorney with substantial experience with nonprofit and government structure issues.

Prior to his role at Triplett Consulting LLC he was a principal consultant at Fieldstone Alliance, a 501c3 nonprofit based in St. Paul. In that capacity he employed the Revenue Matrix tool with many of FA's nonprofit clients.

His prior nonprofit work experience also includes serving as CEO of four Minnesota nonprofits: the College of Visual Arts (an accredited 4-year BFA-granting institution), the Minnesota Business Partnership (the CEOs of the state's largest corporations), the Minnesota Project (a community-development nonprofit), and the St Paul Convention and Visitors Bureau. He also was an attorney with two of the state's largest law firms.

Tom has extensive experience in the public sector. He is a former commissioner of the Minnesota state departments of Finance, Planning and Revenue. He was also policy director for a former mayor of St. Paul, interim vice-chancellor for finance of Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, and Deputy Counsel to the Minnesota Attorney General.

He is a current or former board member of more than a dozen nonprofits including the national Social Enterprise Alliance and a variety of education, environmental, and arts organizations. He was chair of the Washington County Housing and Redevelopment Authority, founder of Friends of Scandia Parks and Trails, and a founder or counsel to several charter schools.

Tom is on the adjunct faculty of the Opus College of Business at the University of St. Thomas where he has taught various courses relating to nonprofit management and finance. He has a B.A. from Grinnell College and a J.D. from Duke University.

Tom lives in the woods near the St Croix River in eastern Minnesota. He loves the outdoors and feels a special bond with the trees on his property. Hence the tree as his "logo."

To assist in his work, Tom engages his former colleagues at Fieldstone Alliance and other nationally-respected consultants on a project-by-project basis.

Jane Zirbes is an independent contractor to Triplett Consulting LLC who serves as a research professional and as Triplett Consulting LLC's administrator.

Jane Zirbes is a graduate of Augsburg College in Minneapolis with a Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems and Business Administration.

Jane's career began as a Technical Consultant working in application development, deployment, and user support. While she enjoyed the technical nature of the work, she discovered she really thrived in the management side of the business. Jane's experience includes serving as an Account Manager and Executive Assistant for a technology firm and within a university. Jane's background has given her valuable experience in executive support, marketing, research, and business management.
